Shawn Thompson joined AMS as a Coordinator in 2022. He provides membership, organization, and administrative support for the Association of Dental Support Organizations (ADSO) and the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM).
Shawn grew up in both Florida and Maryland. He worked in Frederick, MD as a Certified Pharmacy Technician before moving to College Park in 2019 to attend University of Maryland. While attending UMD, Shawn developed and refined his professional skills by serving in various leadership roles within an affordable housing cooperative, interning for a State Senator at the Maryland General Assembly, and through his work on a Community Action Project to benefit underserved communities in the College Park area via the Rawlings Undergraduate Leadership Fellows Program. After graduating, he did temp work as a Property Administrator in the Golden Triangle before coming to AMS.
Shawn lives just outside of DC with his boyfriend Blaine and their cat Pepper. In their free time they enjoy going on road trips, attending concerts, and cooking together. Shawn has a passion for animals, photography, traveling, space, and amateur astronomy.
