K. Malaika Walton Earns Certified Association Executive Credential

Washington, DC – Association Management Strategies, Inc. (AMS), a leading Washington, DC based association management company, is pleased to announce that Senior Associate K. Malaika Walton has received the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE)’s Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, the highest professional credential in the association industry.

Ms. Walton joined AMS in 2021, to serve as the Membership and Program Director for the GridWise Alliance (GWA) and the Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA).  She also began to serve as the Operations Director for the Center for Baby and Adult Hygiene Products (BAHP) this January.  Ms. Walton brings to AMS 20+ years’ experience developing and implementing global strategies and achieving strategic outcomes in associations, non-profit organizations, and the US Government.

To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have experience with nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics.  CAE is the only professional designation for the association management profession and has been achieved by over 4,700 association industry leaders worldwide.

“AMS is committed to supporting the development of our staff, as exemplified by Ms. Walton’s recent achievement of the CAE designation,” said John Flatley, AMS President. “By focusing on continual improvement, we ensure the best quality of service for our clients over time. We could not be prouder of Ms. Walton and the work she put into achieving her certification.” Ms. Walton is the latest recipient of the CAE designation within AMS; she joins Melissa Forburger, Jen McCadden, and Stephanie Dernek, all of whom previously earned the credential.
