Richie O’Neill joined AMS in 2009 and is currently an Account Executive specializing in operations and membership campaigns for his clients. Upon joining AMS, Richie, provided expertise by leading clients’ communication activities and supporting events production.

Within his first year, Richie led a communications campaign for the GridWise Alliance’s Inaugural GridWise Global Forum. The event was co-hosted by the U.S Department of Energy (DOE); keynoted by Energy Secretary Stephen Chu, and convened energy leaders and policymakers from Italy, Denmark, Ireland, China, Brazil and India. The Forum was considered a major success and brought together more than 1,000 attendees and 100 media during the three-day event.

Currently, Richie serves as the Operations Director of the GridWise Alliance. He is responsible for coordinating communications, membership retention and outreach, and Board Committee activities and deliverables. He works, in coordination with the Alliance’s CEO, Executive Director and Policy Director to manage the production of the Alliance’s key industry products including the Grid Modernization Index (GMI), an annual grading of state grid modernization improvements, and the GridWise Forum, a series of events and webinars elevating the priority issues facing the electric grid.

Richie also brings his experiences from sales and brand management to the role of Membership Manager of the Energy Storage Association (ESA). In this role, Richie leads their annual strategic membership outreach campaigns aimed at communicating the value of the Association to current and prospective members. His communications expertise played a large role in the overall success of the Association’s membership retention efforts, which in 2018, experienced its highest renewal rate.

In March 2016, after years of advocacy efforts, the Sorptive Mineral Institute (SMI), the national trade association representing the producers and marketers of products made from absorbent clay minerals, won a landmark regulatory decision. Richie provides direct support to the Institute’s Executive Director, as the group implements its strategic activities.

Richie is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). He has a B.A. in Mass Communications from Towson University.

Richie and his wife, Meagan, live in Alexandria, VA with their baby girl, Mollie, and puppy, Palmer.
