Chris joined Association Management Strategies Inc., (AMS) in 2005 as Vice President and has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of association management.  Chris currently serves as Executive Director of the International Claim Association (ICA), the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) and the ABWM Foundation, positions he has held since 1999, 2003 and 2012 respectively.

The International Claim Association (ICA) is the largest industry trade organization for claims professionals in life, health, disability, and managed care.   Chris works closely with the Executive Committee and 12 working committees to ensure that the members are current on best practices and industry hot topics as well as the administration of the ICA’s to industry claim designations, Associate, Life and Health Claims (ALHC) and Fellow, Life and Health Claims (FLHC).  Chris manages the annual conference which features over 50 concurrent sessions in two days and attendees from over 15 countries.  As Executive Director of International Claim Association (ICA), Chris was instrumental in converting their traditional education program from textbooks to interactive on-line e-learning.

The American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) is dedicated to the multi-disciplinary team approach in promoting the science of prevention, care, and treatment of acute and chronic wounds.  Their primary function is to establish and monitor a national certification examination to elevate the standard of care across the continuum of wound management.  Under Chris’ leadership the American Board of Wound Management implemented two new wound care certifications (Certified Wound Care Associate® and the Certified Wound Specialist Physician®) in three years and exam administration for all three certification exams has increased an average of 6% each year.  Additionally, Chris was instrumental in getting all three of ABWM’s certification programs the Certified Wound Specialist®, Certified Wound Care Associate® and the Certified Wound Specialist Physician® accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

The ABWM Foundation implemented in 2012 under the leadership of Chris supports the work of the American Board of Wound Management in the advancement of wound care by developing and providing quality education and conducting sound research to support and promote wound care.  Since its implementation in 2012 the ABWM Foundation has developed over 10 different resources for clinicians preparing to sit for their ABWM wound care certification exam and recertification exams.

Over the course of his career Chris has worked for several national and international associations as chief staff officer or executive director including the International Association of Seed Crushers, Association of Meeting Professionals and the National Association of Vides Distributors to name a few.  He also worked as a marketing specialist for the United States Department of Treasury, Financial Management Service and the First National Bank of Chicago.

Chris is a native of Washington, DC (they do exist), and is a Washington Redskins and Maryland Terrapins fan. When not injured, Chris is a runner, triathlete and open water swimmer. He also enjoys traveling and weekends at the Eastern Shore (Rehoboth and Dewey Beach).
